P. 14
By increasing the visibility of ethnically diverse figures and
influence, all students can feel like they have a sense of belonging
and they can have a more enriched learning experience as they
actively engage with different groups of people.
When including ethnically diverse identities in the curriculum,
remember:
• To incorporate aboriginal history, identity, and
contemporary culture into learning.
• Do not expect students to speak on behalf of their
communities.
• A whole community cannot be represented by one or two
historical figures.
• Provide accurate information about cultural groups to dispel
any false beliefs and stereotypes.
This need for representation is important for all age groups to see
as they journey through school.
