Involve children and young people and connect with the
wider community
• Every learning environment is different and the best
people to articulate what the day to day environment is
like for young people are young people themselves.
• Learning providers should talk to their learners about
their awareness and experiences of discriminatory
language/behaviour in the learning environment.
• Young people should also have a voice in interventions
and strategies to address these issues.
• These issues will also affect parents, carers or family
members. It's important to engage with families,
ensuring that families feel safe within the learning
spaces and have an equal sense of belonging and
influence in their relationship with the learning
provider as majority families do.
