In days of old, a call was heard,
From lands afar, their hearts were stirred.

The UK reached out, in need and hope,

For hands to help, to build, to cope.
The Windrush generation, proud and true,

               Recruited to start life anew.

From the Caribbean, strong and bright,
They faced the storms; they brought the light.

In times of war, when shadows loomed,

               Millions from India bloomed.
They fought with courage, side by side,

               Their bravery, our nation's pride.

Caribbean hands, so skilled and steady,
Helped rebuild when the nation wasn't ready.

With sweat and toil, they paved the way,

For a brighter, hopeful, new UK.
               And now today, our NHS,

Is filled with those who give their best.

From far-off lands, they come to care,

With healing hands, they are always there.
The UK still calls, recruits worldwide,

Doctors, nurses, who work with pride.

And students, too, who cross the sea,
               Paying fees to fund university.

               Taxi drivers, social care,

               In education, everywhere.
They drive our streets, they teach our young,

In every tongue, their songs are sung.

               Immigrants, they build our nation,
               Each one brings their dedication.
