Hope NOT Hate

In the heart of our cities, where hope should reside,

A flame of injustice flares up and divides.

For centuries, chains have scarred history's page,

Ethnically diverse people enslaved in their age.

Yet still today, the echoes of pain,

Resonate loudly in the fall of the rain.

Their freedoms stolen, their voices suppressed,

In lands where their ancestors once freely pressed.

A history marred by forced migration,

               By murder, enslavement, and exploitation.

And those in power, they must stand tall,

Speak up, speak out, and heed the call.

In Sunderland's streets, where violence did rage,
Vital lifelines were destroyed in a savage rampage.

Citizens Advice, a beacon so bright,

Turned to ashes in the dark of night.

Families struggling, now left in despair,
For help that was once given is no longer there.

The flames have robbed them of a guiding light,

In their battles with debt, and their desperate fight.

Leaders, take heed of this desperate cry,

For justice and equality, reach for the sky.
The history's weight we must not ignore,

But in today's world, we can do more.
