Open up the gate.

We are born into a world full of hate.

From the day we arrive there is closing of the gates

The gatekeepers target you and use their power to keep you out.

They’re happy for you to be homeless, jobless - no ability to shout.

All this mistreatment based on the colour of your skin.

They are happy to lock those gates and not let you in

Your colour is a threat, your voice is too black and too loud.

They want to disperse you, they resent seeing Black crowds.

They may even kill you, by batery or a gun.

In order to silence, you, or just to stop you from having fun.

Being born Black is a slight on your life.
Being born Black brings you trouble and strife.

We need to treat Black people beter, to treat them with respect.

They were invited here to help rebuild this country, lest we forget.

They contributed widely. They helped make Britain Great.

You need to acknowledge these contribuons and open up that gate.
