Freedom of expression
Freedom of expression gives you the right to hold your own
opinions and to express them freely without interference.
Although we all have the freedom of expression, you also have a
duty to behave responsibly and to respect other people’s rights.
Professional standards/values
• Teachers should critically think about their own
assumptions, values, and practices.
• Teachers should only present evidence based research
and topics.
• Teachers should act with honesty and integrity to
maintain high standards of professional behaviour,
teaching, and learning.
Restorative Justice
Restorative Justice offers victims an opportunity to be heard,
to ask their offender questions, and to have their say in the
resolution of the harm caused against them.
Affinity groups
An affinity group is a group of people that share a common
protected characteristic and gather with the intention of
finding connection, support, and inspiration. Affinity groups
can happen within any profession or organization, including
education.
Microaggressions
Microaggressions are everyday verbal and nonverbal
comments, snubs, or insults, (intentional or unintentional)
that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages
to target a person based on their protected characteristics.
