Diversity Diary
• Spend some time imagining that you are an individual from a
particular ethnic background.
• On different occasions throughout the day consider the needs of
different individuals, for example an Black British individual,
Traveller, an asylum seeker or a person in the early stages of acquiring
English as an additional language.
• Consider everything: the posters/messages/signs on the walls, the
resources in the working/learning environment, the messages given
out by managements/staff, the content of the conversations and ask
yourself, “is this workplace/learning environment welcoming to me?”,
“do I feel included?”, “what messages am I being given?”
• Record your thoughts in a diary for the day.
• Prepare to share at the end of the day
