Forgotten Sailors: A Call for Justice
In Liverpool's grey mists, they sailed away, bringing food to Britain in
the war's fray.
Chinese seamen, strong and true, yet their stories, few knew.
They worked through storms and darkest night, making sure Britain’s
future was bright.
Through war’s roar and silent peace, their efforts never ceased.
But when the war finally ended, these men were forcibly deported,
unfriended.
No goodbye kiss, no parting word, their families left, their cries
unheard.
Wives and children left to grieve, believing their men chose to leave.
For decades, this truth was hidden, in history’s shadow, their pain was
ridden.
Now Labour has the chance to act, to right this wrong, acknowledge
the fact.
We ask for justice, clear and true, an apology, long overdue.
Raise your voices, make it clear, for those who suffered, we hold dear.
Let history show the pain they bore, their sacrifice, forevermore.
To the Chinese seamen, hear our plea, we recognise your bravery.
May justice shine where shadows were, and honour be your proud,
true stir.
BBC Northwest reported on this tonight
It saddened me as I did not know
So, I wrote this to share and to say I am sorry
