Nurses like Bennison, Da-Cocodia too,

Paved paths for others, their dreams they’d pursue.
The NHS flourished with their healing hands,

They nurtured our health and strengthened our lands.

From vibrant Notting Hill to the streets of Birmingham,

Their culture and rhythm brought joy to the land.
Calypso and reggae, jerk chicken’s delight,

Enriching our lives, both day and night.

Barbershops, cook shops, and market stalls,

Their businesses grew, within these walls.
They faced prejudice, with courage so grand,

               Building communities, making a stand.

Despite the racism, the hardships endured,

Their contributions and spirit remain reassured.

Windrush scandal, a stain on our past,
Reminds us of justice, a lesson to last.

Let's not forget the systemic exclusion,

               "Illegal immigrants," a wrongful conclusion.

Deportations and detentions, a shame to recall,
Yet they rose above, standing tall.

Dr. Les Johnson's work, a beacon so bright,

National Windrush Museum, a guiding light.

"Doing culture differently," showcasing their tales,

               Ensuring their legacy never pales.
