In Memory of Dad: A Father's Day tribute
In '09 you left for eternal rest,
Your journey, I know, was life's final test.
When I was three weeks old, you left me and answered the call,
As part of Windrush, to rebuild Britain after their fall.
A sacrifice so great, for a land so far,
Leaving behind your daughter, your guiding star.
Five years passed before we met,
The bond was weak, but no regret.
Through your eyes, I learned to see,
The strength it took, to shape a life like me.
Positivity in gloom, solutions in strife,
You taught me to navigate the storms of life.
Twelve years later, once more to your homeland you'd depart,
Leaving me alone in England with an independent heart.
Through hard work and study, I found my way,
Your lessons in life guiding me every day.
A salute to you, for all your deeds,
Though love unlearned, you planted seeds.
In forgiveness now, I clearly view,
I am who I am because of you.
Rest in peace, dear Dad, eternally,
Your legacy lives on in the best parts of me.
Though absent in life, in spirit you're near,
Happy Father's Day, Dad, your memory is clear.
