Page 33 - Supporting Anti-Racist practice in Schools
P. 33
It is important for practitioners to develop
informed, effective approaches to tackling
racist behaviour.
Like approaches to bullying generally,
identifying and dealing with this behaviour
does not mean labelling a young person as
'a bully' or as 'racist’.
TACKLING Key questions to ask in order to identify
whether a racist incident has occurred
INCIDENTS include:
➢ Does anyone feel that the incident was
racist?
➢ Does the behaviour reflect stereotypes
based on colour, nationality or ethnic or
national origin?
➢ Does the behaviour include use of racial
slurs or racist language?
