Page 106 - Poems by Alyson Malach - Childhood to Adulthood
P. 106
Thinking out loud
In streets that buzz with restless cries,
In alleys where the anger lies,
A man steps forth, newly crowned,
Yet harsh words seek to drag him down.
Why cast your stones at one alone,
When roots of ire have deeply grown?
Ask not why leaders bear the blame,
But why our hearts ignite in flame.
Why not call for peace and grace,
For calm to take its rightful place?
To those who thrash in bitter spite,
Can we not guide to cease the fight?
Employers, eyes open wide,
See those who join the chaos tide,
Their actions mar the work they do,
Their rages taint the whole anew.
Dismiss the hands that harm and tear,
Restore the balance, just and fair.
For how one can expect to stand,
With chaos wrought by their own hand.
In fields where justice ought to thrive,
Let's plant the seeds to heal, revive.
For Britain's strength is in its core,
In unity, we find much more.
So, pause the blame, reflect within,
For change must start beneath the skin.
In every heart and every mind,
Let’s seek the peace we wish to find.
Let’s take action against inequalities within communities
Let’s work together to restore piece, safety and unity
