P. 104
Thinking out loud
In Southport's streets where sorrow lay,
Three young souls were taken away.
A week of grief turned into strife,
As hatred marred each precious life.
Viral lies and venom spread,
Fuelled by fear, by anger fed.
Men emboldened by their hate,
Wrought destruction, sealed our fate.
Mosques defiled, buildings burned,
Lessons lost that must be learned.
Violent men and supremacists,
Turned tragedy to racist fists.
Political words, so sharp and vile,
Have paved this dark and dreadful mile.
From hate-filled speech to blood-soaked ground,
A clear path to this violence found.
This week should've been for tears,
To face our deepest, darkest fears.
To mourn the girls whose lives were lost,
And count the heavy human cost.
But instead, the rage has grown,
In streets where seeds of hate are sown.
Our call is clear, our stand is strong,
Against this vile, unending wrong.
