Page 40 - Poems by Alyson Malach - Childhood to Adulthood
P. 40
Aer this is over what will have changed?
Aer this is over how will our lives be rearranged?
What have we learned from being locked down?
Are we emerging smiling or wearing a frown?
I learnt that my family are my life.
I learnt that I made the right decision when I became my husband’s
wife.
I learnt that work is good for living and smulates the mind.
I got to know my neighbours and learnt they are one of a kind.
I learnt how to relax and there is no need to work at pace.
I learned to look at my husband and to appreciate his lovely face.
I learnt to work in partnership to relax and have fun.
I learnt to be thankful for what I have when each day is done.
If we learn nothing else from this crisis surely, we will realise.
That staying safe in this pandemic required us to be sensible and wise.
The journey is not yet over there is sll a way to go.
Aer this is over, I will have changed I know.
I will never take anything for granted. I will always be kind and fair.
I will forever appreciate my family and will always be there.
Work will mater, but life will mater more.
I will spend more time with my loved ones and much less time in the store.
We have so much going for us, we have so much wealth.
But my priories for the future will be our well-being and health.
Stay safe.
