Become a foster carer.
It not a job it is a gi.
It is a privilege to support and to li.
The spirits of children who have been le down and out.
That is really what fostering is about.
You can do it short term, or you can do it for years.
It can energise you and oen leave you in tears.
But it is not about you.
Or about the things that you do
It is about the child, the young person in your care.
It is about teaching, parenng and oen ridding them of despair.
It is about teaching skills, nurturing too.
It is about always being there and the good things you do.
It takes you on a journey, it shows you your flaws.
It stops you in your tracks and causes you to pause.
To pause and to rethink the strategies to use.
It makes you reflect on how you think and the things that you choose.
The things you choose to do or to say.
Can cause uter mayhem or take their blues away.
Fostering isn’t easy - it is a long bumpy street.
But you have support from friends, family and other carers you meet
Things won’t always go swimmingly; they won’t always be good.
And if you know you have done all that you could
Those kids will grow and develop as adults.
You will always remember the good mes and won’t dwell on the
insults.
