Page 67 - Poems by Alyson Malach - Childhood to Adulthood
P. 67
We are all human regardless of our background
In shadows cast by cruel decree,
A migrant soul, lost at sea.
Denied the tle, man, humane,
Yet in his heart, a human's pain.
A desperate voyage, across the de,
His journey marked; the law defied.
In Dorset's vessel, cold and grim,
He screamed for hope, his light grew dim.
No phone to call, no hand to hold,
In depths of despair, his story unfolds.
Denied the care he sought in vain,
A plea for help met with disdain.
In echoes of his silent cries,
The world turns a blind, indifferent guise.
A human soul, treated in shame,
Less than an animal, less than a name.
I feel the weight upon my chest,
His anguish felt, a deep unrest.
For in his struggle, I find despair,
A plea unheard, in the open air.
Rest in peace, dear soul, find release,
May your pain now find a gentle peace.
Forgive those humans, blind and cold,
Whose hearts, in darkness, failed to hold.
