Page 76 - Poems by Alyson Malach - Childhood to Adulthood
P. 76
In England's shadowed past, a haunng tale,
Of chains and anguish, of freedom frail,
Black souls oppressed, in bondage's grip,
Their cries unheard, their dreams adri.
Though shackles broke, the scars remain,
In hearts and minds, the lingering pain.
From childhood's innocence to adult years,
Discriminaon's sng, a torrent of tears.
In schools, they face the bias cold,
Where histories gloss over truths untold.
Segregaon's subtle, yet clear as day,
In classrooms where equality should sway.
In streets and alleys, prejudice prowls,
A Spectre haunng, with silent growls.
Job opportunies, unfairly denied,
Ambions sfled; dreams pushed aside.
But change must come, it's long overdue,
In 2024, the call rings true.
Educaon, the key to ignite,
A future where equality takes flight.
Through empathy and understanding deep,
We shater barriers, no longer asleep.
Instuons reformed, jusce upheld,
A society where all are propelled.
So let us rise, with voices strong,
To right the injusces, redress the wrongs.
In unity, we forge a brighter way,
Where every soul can thrive, come what may.
