Page 85 - Poems by Alyson Malach - Childhood to Adulthood
P. 85
It’s not just a number, not a "small, tiny part,"
It’s the weight on her shoulders, the pain in her heart.
When they downplay the hurt, dismissing her fear,
They reveal their privilege, so stark and clear.
But despite all the darkness, a flicker of light,
She clings to her hope with all of her might.
This beast, she believes, is nearing its end,
And perhaps this time, it won’t rise again.
So, she stands, she speaks, she will not be stilled,
For a world where her grandchildren can walk unfulfilled.
Where their worth isn’t questioned, their lives not at stake,
Where dignity, respect, and peace overtake.
This isn’t the end, the fight must go on,
But she refuses to let the darkness drag on.
For we deserve better, all of us here,
A world free of hate, where we live without fear.
