P. 88
Not long now before schools reopen
School days are coming, they're almost here,
Let's sit for a moment, my dear one, come near.
There's something important I'd like you to know,
About kindness and care, wherever you go.
It’s never okay to laugh or make fun,
Of someone's size, their colour, or religion.
No matter their height, or the clothes that they wear,
Each person deserves our love and our care.
The shoes on their feet, whether old or new,
Should never be reasons to make someone feel blue.
A backpack well-loved, though it's not shiny bright,
Still carries dreams, and hopes, just as light.
If someone is different, that's perfectly fine,
We're all unique, like stars that brightly shine.
Teasing may hurt more than you see,
Schools for learning, let’s help each other be.
Some children go home, where love may be rare,
So, kindness at school is something to share.
Remember, my darling, it all starts with you,
At home we learn, to be kind and true.
So, promise me this, as you head out the door,
You’ll be the friend who cares even more.
In your heart, let kindness be found,
Spread love and joy, let it go all around.
