A Poem for Wendy
Wendy's heart swells with joy,
For her family, diverse and bright.
Her son, with roots from many lands,
Has found love in hues of night.
A daughter-in-law with melanin rich,
And a grandson, radiant with pride.
Their heritage, a tapestry of gold,
In which Wendy's love resides.
But shadows lurk, dark and cold,
In the hearts of those who fear.
Their words, sharp as daggers,
Speak of hate Wendy won't bear.
She trembles for her loved ones dear,
For the harm that hate can breed.
In a world where prejudice still lives,
Where ignorance plants its seed.
