This can be helpful for students to imagine themselves within
your schools.
However, it is important to highlight that there should be
balance in how much diversity is represented to how many
ethnically diverse students there actually are within the
school to avoid demonstrating incorrect demographics.
It is also possible to create visually inclusive learning by
participating in different social awareness campaigns. During
Black History Month, schools can implement different
projects such as a Black Hall of Fame to highlight the success
stories of black students and staff members on campus.
Human library activities are also a great way to combat
discrimination and to create safe spaces for discussions.
Presenting historical bibliographies of prominent leaders
within different cultural backgrounds can be ways to create a
more visually inclusive learning environment.
Including ethnically identities in the curriculum
Diversifying the curriculum has been a common topic of
conversation within the educational sector. By increasing the
visibility of ethnically diverse figures and influences in
academia, all students can feel like they have a sense of
belonging and they can have a more enriched learning
experience as they actively engage with different groups of
people.
