The Race Equality Pocket Book to help you comply with the

            Equality Act 2010


            This Race Equality Pocket book will help you to identify what you

            must do and what you should know to meet the requirements of

            The Equality Act in your role as an employee and learning provider.

            You can use the bullet points as tick-boxes to help you identify

            those competencies that you already have and which you need to

            develop.




            Ensure you have the knowledge and skills you need


              Make sure you understand what is required of you by law and

                   by your organisation.


              Keep up to date with race equality issues in the local

                   community, the education sector and your subject area.


              Know your own role and responsibilities with regard to race

                   equality, diversity and inclusion.


              Recognise how your behaviour and professionalism contribute

                   to your organisation’s core values and culture.


              Understand what you can do to tackle racial discrimination,

                   promote racial equality and foster good race relationships

                   between diverse groups in your day-to-day work


              Identify the gaps in your Race equality skills, knowledge and

                   understanding and work out how you can remedy these.


              Make the most of Racial Equality-related continuing

                   professional development activities to improve your
                   understanding of racial equality issues and how to respond to

                   them.
