Tackle racial discrimination

 Be aware of the wide variety of forms racial discrimination can

                   take.

 Learn the language of racial discrimination so you can
challenge it when you hear it – if in doubt, check it out!

 Recognise the potential impact of your own actions,

                   behaviours and decisions on others.

 Review your language, behaviour, thoughts and feelings to

become more aware of your assumptions, prejudices and use

                   of racial stereotypes.

 Challenge racial discrimination and inappropriate behaviour,

                   language or actions effectively.

 Be non-judgemental – make it clear that it is the behaviour

that is the issue, not the person.

 Investigate and deal with complaints or racial discrimination,
harassment, victimisation or bullying effectively, sensitively

                   and promptly.

 Provide effective support to people who may have been
subjected to racial bullying, harassment or discrimination.

 Monitor the situation to make sure the behaviour has stopped.
