Tackle racial discrimination
Be aware of the wide variety of forms racial discrimination can
take.
Learn the language of racial discrimination so you can
challenge it when you hear it – if in doubt, check it out!
Recognise the potential impact of your own actions,
behaviours and decisions on others.
Review your language, behaviour, thoughts and feelings to
become more aware of your assumptions, prejudices and use
of racial stereotypes.
Challenge racial discrimination and inappropriate behaviour,
language or actions effectively.
Be non-judgemental – make it clear that it is the behaviour
that is the issue, not the person.
Investigate and deal with complaints or racial discrimination,
harassment, victimisation or bullying effectively, sensitively
and promptly.
Provide effective support to people who may have been
subjected to racial bullying, harassment or discrimination.
Monitor the situation to make sure the behaviour has stopped.
